Fargo...
FARGO - In an unprecedented moment in recorded history, the Red River in Fargo this morning eclipsed the mark for its largest crest and continues to rise.
The Red River read 40.32 feet at 5:15 a.m., topping the previous mark of 40.1 feet set in 1897.
The river nudged ahead of the record with an official reading of 40.15 feet at 2:15 a.m.
Floodwaters forced residents to flee to higher ground Thursday in Fargo, Moorhead and the surrounding area, as forecasters warned that the Red River could reach a record 43 feet by Saturday.
The river passed the 1997 flood crest of 39.57 feet just after 7 p.m. Thursday.

So, this is all happening 40 minutes to the north of me! I had the effects last week...but I was fortunate enough to have 2 pumps going at all times and we ended up with no water in the basement! Most of my neighborhood did experience *SOME* water in their basements but not a significant amount to report...THANKFULLY! We are fortunate to have a dike system in place that allows the river to get to 20 feet before we have to worry...and this year it hit 17.6 so it was off...BUT...yeah there is always a but when we talk about North Dakota floods! There is 1) a HUGE storm that is supposed to be moving in next week so that will result in some water...and 2) there are 3 water releases that will occur *tomorrow* and that does not please me! That amount of water doesn't worry me it's the storm that comes in!
Enough for now! Take Care, Stay Warm and Stay Dry! Love ya all!
